Spitfire Lacey Mosely feels stuck in a life she didn’t necessarily want. But will she find a happy ending with the man who broke her heart? Liora Blake concludes her witty and poignant True series with this spirited romance.
What do you do when the one boy you were never quite able to forget lands on your doorstep?
Lacey Mosely feels stuck: in her rural town of Crowell, Montana, at her job as manager of The Beauty Barn, and in her lackluster love life. Enter Jake Holt, one-time misfit and Lacey’s secret high school love. Ten years later, Jake is a private pilot whose travels take him all over the world, and once he shows up in Lacey’s life again—at the most unexpected time—he can’t seem to stay away. Now it’s up to Lacey to decide if she’s ready to let go of the past…and take a leap of faith for love.
Tender, sweet, and heartwarming!
Lacey and Jake couldn’t enough of each other when they were teens. Opposites attracted; Jake (labeled a misfit in the town) and Lacey (the popular cheerleader) started a budding romance, but it left them both heartbroken in the end. Sneaking around and shying away from the public was tough for both because Lacey was worried about what everyone would say. For Jake, the town left a sad and troubled image in his head. That’s why the day after graduation, he was gone. Poof. No word or good-bye to Lacey, which left her confused. She thought they had something meaningful, but she guessed to him it was just no big thing.
Years later, as fate would have it, Jake comes back into town and he’s looking even better than Lacey remembered. One look, and the feelings come crashing back like a wave. Can things be different the second time around or will it all end in heartache again?
AH! This book made me sad. 😥
Yet, happy. 😀
I can say that these two find their happy ever after, but it’s the journey of how they get there that makes it a little tough to get through. For me, knowing a couple lost years of time when they could’ve been together all along, kills me. But, goodness, does it make for a compelling story!
Cromwell is the place Jake didn’t want to come back to because it holds so many memories. For Lacey, it’s home. It always has been and will be; it’s where her life and family is. Now, when they see that what they have is much more than just a rekindling, fleeting moment, they have to figure out a way to open up to new possibilities to make things last.
Jake stole my heart. The sweet and romantic things made my heart swell.
I was in love with you. You know that, right?
So it killed me to leave you.
I can take care of you now. I couldn’t then.
AHHH the feels! ❤
