Review: Pucked by Helena Hunting

Pucked CoverTitle: Pucked
Author: Helena Hunting
Genre: Contemporary Romance/New Adult
Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars

Book Description:

With a famous NHL player for a step-brother, Violet Hall is well acquainted with the playboy reputation many hockey stars come with. She’s smart enough to steer clear of those hot, well-built boys with unparalleled stamina. That is until she meets the legendary team captain—Alex Waters.

Violet isn’t interested in his pretty, beat-up face, or his rock-hard six-pack abs. But when Alex inadvertently obliterates Violet’s previous misapprehension regarding the inferior intellect of hockey players, he becomes more than just a hot body with a face to match.

In what can only be considered a complete lapse in judgment, Violet finds out just how good Alex is with the hockey stick in his pants. But what starts out as a one-night stand, quickly turns into something more. Post-night of orgasmic magic, Alex starts to call, and text, and e-mail and send extravagant—and quirky—gifts, making him difficult to ignore, and even more difficult not to like.

The problem is, the media portrays Alex as a total player, and Violet doesn’t want to be part of the game.

Review:

Violet and Alex’s love story was one of the most enjoyable and wonderful reads I’ve had this year! 😀

This is the sort of insta-love romance you lose yourself in, and can’t get enough of!

Violet is a bold and immodest type of girl. She goes with the flow and isn’t worried about what other people think. She marches to the beat of her own drum, and is sarcastic as hell! Violet’s the girl you would love to hang out with because she’s the perfect mix of fun and crazy.

When she goes to her step-brother’s hockey game (then the after party), she isn’t interested in chatting up any of his hot teammates. She’s vowed to not get mixed up with another hockey player AGAIN, and become a puck bunny. But…while at the game she met the gaze of an incredibly attractive player on the ice, and to her surprise, he takes the empty seat next to her at the after party. 😮

Alex is publicly known for being a manwhore. One of the rumors is that he has the unfortunate title of sleeping with three girls in one night. YUCK, I know! However, what the world doesn’t know is that he isn’t the sleezeball everyone makes him out to be. Sure he doesn’t confirm or deny the information, but it’s because he doesn’t have to (even though it isn’t the best publicity for him and his character). He just wants to stay out of the spotlight and focus on hockey, and the future. Until…he sees Violet in the stands and again that same night. He wants to talk to her, and if it leads to something more? That’s cool too! 😉 Alex wasn’t expecting her to be his new teammate’s sister. That can get a bit messy! Dun Dun DUNNN!

Once Violet and Alex get to know each other, and then get to know each other some more (*nudge nudge*), they can’t leave each other alone. Alex is persistent in wanting Violet in his life, even if it’s for a few days at a time with his heavy work schedule. Violet loves being with Alex and is touched by his determination to make her smile by sending her gifts, emails, and talking to her whenever possible. They’re incredibly silly and happy together. It’s flipping adorable; and when they’re all hot and lusty over each other, you need a fan to cool yourself. These two are unstoppable!! 😀

Again, I enjoyed these two so much! I can’t wait to add this to my paperback collection! This book stole my heart! It made me laugh out loud, bite my nails in anticipation, and had me grinning like a crazy person! Pucked was full of hilarious moments and blazing hot chemistry! Definitely recommend this fantastic read! 😀
