Review: Compromising Positions by Mary Whitney

Compromising Positions CoverTitle: Compromising Positions
Author: Mary Whitney
Genre: Adult/Contemporary Romance
Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

Book description:

We weren’t supposed to be friends. We weren’t even supposed to like each other.

I’m Michael Grath. I’ll admit I was elected to Congress on my Republican family history. I was out to make a name for myself, until I met Jessie Clark, a spitfire Democrat.

She’d be my nemesis, if I could just stop thinking about her. We’ve got nothing and everything in common, and one big issue that divides us. All of this is going to land us in more than one compromising position.

And like I said, we weren’t supposed to be friends, we weren’t even supposed to like each other, and we certainly weren’t supposed to fall in love.

I absolutely love Mary’s writing style! 🙂 This was another great romance book that will leave you blushing and giddy with happiness.

Opposites attract in this novel, and we learn what it takes to make a relationship last if it’s true love: openness to compromise! Michael and Jessie have an instant connection once they meet and can’t stop thinking of one another afterward. Once they realize how different their views on certain political issues are, can their love survive? Wait and find out!! 😀

I’m not kidding when I say these two people fall in love, while being at either end of the spectrum. They couldn’t be more polar opposite. You know how people sometimes mention that religion and politics are two of the most controversial and ‘deal-breaking’ topics to discuss with others? Well, they sort of have a point. For instance, in this case: Michael is a Republican; Jessie a Democrat. Michael is Catholic; Jessie is Protestant. Michael is pro-life; Jessie is pro-choice. **Oo Oo OO, the debates they would have…

Get the picture?

They have different beliefs. Yet, they’re very alike in the sense that they want the same things, but have a different approach, and way, of achieving them. Putting all of their differences aside, the one thing they have in common is their attraction to one another. How can you not fall in love with someone who has a great head on their shoulders, is super intelligent, is confident in every sense of the word, AND has great looks! Brains and body? Who votes ‘YES’? 😉

I read this book in one day and breezed right through it because I enjoyed it so much. It was sweet, charming, and unlike anything I’ve read before. I’m telling you, it made me consider watching C-SPAN to catch a glimpse of what really goes on on that channel.

Mary WhitneyAbout Mary Whitney:

Even before she graduated from law school, Mary Whitney knew she wasn’t cut out to be a real lawyer. Drawn to politics, she’s spent her career as an organizer, lobbyist, and nonprofit executive. Nothing piques her interest more than a good political scandal or romance, and when she stumbled upon writing, she put the two together. A born Midwesterner, naturalized Texan, and transient resident of Washington, D.C., Mary now lives in Northern California with her two daughters and real lawyer husband.
