Recipe: Maggie’s Rose Sangria

Wine! Vino! Fruit!  Friends!  The characters in Geoducks Are for Lovers enjoy their wine:

“We should eat.  I have salmon to grill and a couscous salad in the fridge.  Sound good?  Plus both white and red wines and a Spanish Rosé.”  She turns on the propane on the gas grill sitting in the far corner of the deck.

“Sounds great.  Especially the wine part.”

“I’d hate for you to dehydrate.”

Lucky for us, we’ve been given Maggie’s tasty sangria recipe.  Give it a try.

Rose SangriaIngredients:

1 bottle of Rose

½ cup of brandy or Triple Sec

2 cups of any combination of: blackberries, mixed berries, blueberries, strawberries, cherries, green apple slices, peaches, plums, sliced oranges or lemons or raspberries (frozen berries work great)

½ bottle of Trader Joe’s Blood Orange Soda or 2 cans of San Pelligrino Orange soda or ginger ale (around 2 cups)

Optional: ½ cup of simple syrup (made with ½ cup sugar and ½ cup water boiled until sugar dissolves)

If you like sweeter sangria, make the simple syrup beforehand and let it cool then add it with the other ingredients to taste.

Mix all ingredients in a large pitcher, Mason jar, beverage dispenser and chill for a few hours or overnight.
